Burn Ban Overland Park

Overland Park Burn Ban

Steve Kornspan Local News, Overland Park 0 Comments

A Burn Ban went into affect February 13 until further notice in Overland Park because of dry conditions and high winds.

The fire marshal will not be issuing any burn permits at this time. Recreational fires in chimneys and fire pits are prohibited.

If you grill, be sure to stay near the grill and use extreme caution. If you smoke, please be sure your cigarette and cigar butts are fully out when you’re done with them. Crews spent part of the weekend putting out grass fires near 151st Street and U.S. 69., likely caused by smoking materials. Included below is a link to a YouTube video from an OPFD firefighter’s helmet camera showing just how quickly these fires can escalate. Please don’t throw cigarette butts out the window of your car.

Stay safe!
